About Me
Hi, my name is Jerry Smith. I am an Information Security Engineer in the Security Operations Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) and I'll be your instructor for Defending and Securing Systems.
I have over 20 years of IT experience ranging from:
- Support
- Network Administration
- Instructor
- SysAdmin
- Management
- Security
I have to say that of all the hats I've worn, Cybersecurity is my favorite.
I love the mission we have in protecting our organizations and I learn something new every day!
I have a Master's in Engineering with a focus in Information Engineering and Management and currently hold the GSEC Certification.
I am very excited to be your instructor for this course, Cybersecurity is a large and growing field and we need all of the help we can get!
